College Library

Library: Considering the importance of the Library, a library sub-committee has been framed by the Governing Body of the college which discharges various functions in respect of renovation, purchase of new books along with furniture and prepare fixture so that the available resources are used in the best possible ways. The Library is managed by a Temporary Contractual Librarian and one Peon. At least two books to each honours students and one book for each general students are issued at a time. There is a nice and airy reading room in the library for study during college hours..Online and Internet services are available in the library for faculty members and librarian. The library is computerized. But it will take more time to make the library fully computerized though cataloging is proceeding in a hurried manner.

Membership: All bonafide students are members of the college Library. Library card is renewed each time once a student advances to the next year. Every student is given one card for Lending. Lending cards allows students to retain books for a period of 15 days initially after which they can renew the same twice. After taking the books by showing their Cards, they may read the same in the reading room of the college library.

Apart from this all permanent staff of the college is entitled to library facility. The reading facilities are provided to the outside scholars on application.

Library Committee:

The effective functioning of the library is ensured by a Library Advisory Committee named as Library Sub-Committee constituted with five members. The Principal is the chairperson and one teacher member is the convener of the committee and there are two faculty members. The committee has taken important initiatives to implement the integrated Library Management System (SOUL 2.0), development of the library document database as well as membership database. The committee also recommended the completely automated functioning of the library that makes the transactions much easier. Author-based, Subject-based, Title-based and Publisher- based searching of OPAC (Online Public access Catalogue), Access to e-books and e-journals through INFLIBNET NLIST Consortium and Institutional membership help the users to find their required information easily.

Library Collection:

The library has a rich collection of national /international books and journals in the field of Arts & Science on different subjects including reference books. The subjects include Bengali, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, Environment, Geography, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physics, Political Science, Sanskrit,. Total collections including text books & reference books are more than 7.5 thousand up to financial year 2014-15.

The Library subscribe a good number of print journals, magazines and newspapers which include Yojana (Bengali & English versions), Economic & Political Weekly, Peshaprobesh, Desh, Achievers, Karmakshetra, Employment News, Anandabazar Patrika, Statesman, etc.

E-COLLECTION: The Library is a member of N-LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) consortium of INFLIBNET through which the members of the library can access 6000+ e-journals and 97,000+ e-books in different subjects.
